Grand Theft Auto V review
Considering massive levels of hype that surround Grand Theft Auto series, it’d been a surprise if the 5th part wasn’t one of the best open-world video games. Smart mechanics and intriguing storyline is just a tiny grain of why this game is so popular. The best things are of course hidden in the details.
The gameplay is full of sarcastic humor and satire. Every social class and group is made fun of no matter if it’s millennials, middle class, far right or left. Everyone gets attention from Rockstar Games. GTA V provides countless opportunities to have fun by taking players on a mountain bike rides, hijacking military trucks and planes, participating in pointless shootouts with police and many more.
The story takes place between three main characters, whose well-written interactions make this game a gem. Storylines that start around their individual lives and habits intersect more and more, which makes pacing very natural and enthralling. Your opinion of Michael, Trevor and Franklin will change throughout the game, while the ending will depend solely on your choices and actions. Some missions are pretty basic and familiar to GTA series fans. Other are multi-stage complicated events that dramatically change the storyline. You’re free to choose how will you achieve your goals- calmly and stealthy or chaotically with massacres.
When it comes to video memory, GTA V is demanding, and there’s a reason why. Try to set texture quality to high, and you’ll be enjoying detailed clothes, skin and ambient world. With beautiful nature, buildings and effects it’s already pleasant to just stay and watch how world lives around you. That’s however if you have the decent hardware. For weaker and older systems some compromises should be applied though.
Replay Value 5/5
One of the best things about GTA V’s storyline is that every mission is repayable. You’re free to repeat your favorite moments with different approaches and crews. Sometimes the game might not even be prepared for your chaotic decisions, and things will go completely different in comparison with how it was planned by game designers. If you’re curious enough, then you can try to open all possible endings, by taking different choices. After completion of the main story real fun just begins as the multiplayer mode already awaits you.
Rockstar Games did a great job to make the game equally enjoyable with all the devices. If you want to relax on the couch and have fun, then classic gamepad will be your choice. If you’re a PC gamer and value accuracy, then it’s always possible to connect keyboard and mouse. To make a gameplay even more immersive, you can enable a first-person view mode. It makes shooting slightly easier like in more conventional FPS shooters, although the field of view narrows respectively and the whole gameplay becomes more hardcore.
GTA 5 can be very violent and amoral, although it’s definitely one of the most detailed and entertaining games ever made. With the well-written three-standed story, the game provides hundreds of hours of gameplay, which can be also replayed at any time. Visuals look fantastic on decent hardware, and the ambient world is so beautifully drawn that it’s already fascinating just to explore it. Definitely a must-play no matter if you’re familiar with GTA series.
