Subnautica is a single player game that was released in 2018. It is a survival game, but the most interesting thing about it is that now you do not have to survive in the jungle or desert island. Now you have to survive in the open ocean. Subnautica is a usual survival game, but despite this fact, it became popular in a short time. It is available for download on Xbox One, Windows, MacOS, and Playstation 4.

Gameplay 5/5

The game mechanics here are easy compared to other survival games. Your spaceship had an accident, and now you are trapped on the planet full of water. And now your mission is to build your base, find enough food to live and find a way to protect yourself from aggressive marine beasts. There is no detailed plot in this game. The terrain with loot generates randomly.

To survive, you will have to dive and find different resources, such as sulfur, gold, and others. There are more than 15 different resources. But it is not that easy because your main character is a human, so you will have to periodically get to the surface to restore oxygen. You will have to craft new equipment, upgrade it, and find out what happened to your crew.

It should be mentioned that the game map here is not monotonous. You can spend many hours swimming and exploring the location near your base, but later you will surely find other areas. For example, you can dive on a very large distance and discover new biomes, such as mushroom forest, mountains, dunes, and others. Each biome has its own sound effects and creatures.

Graphics 5/5

Graphics here are beautiful and well detailed. The animation of water, fishes, and the environment looks realistic. Developers managed to create beautiful water physics. All the objects on the surface look colorful and bright. However, the deeper you go, the darker it becomes. At the bottom of the ocean, you will hardly see anything. In addition, different beasts will try to hunt you, and their models may frighten you.

Replay Value 4/5

Subnautica is a pretty entertaining game, and you will surely spend many hours exploring the marine world. But not everyone would like to replay this game because content and concept remain the same. All you have to do is to survive the same way you did it the last time.

Controls 5/5

Controls here are easy. It is not going to be hard to manage them because they are usual for all type of first-person games. You can also change the buttons preset in the game settings. In addition, you can connect your gamepad and see the available buttons preset in the game settings.

Summary

Subnautica is an interesting and unusual survival game. You have to survive in the open ocean, hunt for food, and gather different resources to improve your equipment and build your base. The game is a perfect time-killer, and we surely recommend you to play this game. It has no detailed plot, but it is a perfect choice if you love survival games.

  • The game is full of interesting content
  • It is easy to control the main hero.
